How to care for your new Koala Foldaway Mattress

Regular care

  • Do not wash the foam core.
  • Do not remove or wash the inner cover.
  • Remove foam core, then close the zips before washing the outer cover.
  • Warm gentle machine wash with with similar colours.
  • Do not bleach.
  • Do not tumble dry.
  • Do not dry clean.
  • Do not iron.
  • To dry, lay flat away from direct sunlight.
  • Allow to thoroughly dry before re-use.
  • Airing the Foldaway Mattress:
    To further reduce the risk of mold and mildew, you can air the Foldaway Mattress by leaning it up on its side in a well ventilated room.
  • Warning: Keep away from all heat sources including cigarettes, electric/gas stoves, fire and uncovered flames.

The foams used in our mattresses are CertiPUR-US® certified, meaning they are made without formaldehyde, ozone depleters, heavy metals and flame retardants (PBDEs, TDCPP or TCEP), and promote indoor air quality through low Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). Learn more.

We offer same day delivery on furniture and mattress orders in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide (for in-stock products). Delivery is FREE on mattresses and small items and our fast & flexible furniture delivery lets you choose a window that suits you.

Free metro delivery on any order with a mattress. Regional deliveries are charged per item.

Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Metro customers can also select premium delivery that includes assembly and rubbish removal on select items at an additional cost.

How do I change the firmness/how do I change the zoning?

The default firmness setting is Legs: medium-firm, Hips: firm, Head: medium-firm, facing toward the "Summer" side of the cover.

If you wish to change the firmness setting, unzip the 3 zippers on the outer cover, to reveal the white inner cover and the firmness labels.

If you prefer firmer support, you could try this setting:
Legs: firm, Hips: extra firm, Head: firm

If you require softer support under your hips, you could try this setting:
Legs: firm, Hips: medium-firm, Head: medium-firm

Remember to flip the foam segments so that your preferred firmness is facing toward the side of the cover you want to sleep on (i.e. if the weather is hot, make sure your preferred firmness is facing toward the "Summer" side of the cover).
After selecting your firmness setting, re-close all 3 zips.

Can I wash the Foldaway mattress cover?

If necessary, the outer cover of the Foldaway Mattress can be washed.

Before washing, unzip the outer cover, and remove the foam segments. Re-close the zips, then wash on a cold or warm gentle machine cycle with similar colours.

After washing the cover, reshape it and lay it flat to dry in the shade. Re-insert the foam segments only once the outer cover is completely dry.

Do not wash the inner cover or the foam core.

What is cool-touch yarn (used on the Summer side of the cover)?

Cool-touch yarn provides an instant cooling sensation against the skin. It is made from a hyper-conductive fibre which helps to draw heat away from the body.

We have used this yarn on the "Summer" side of the Foldaway mattress cover, to provide instant cooling in the warmer months.

What is the antimicrobial treatment that is used on the Foldaway mattress cover?

We have used a special antimicrobial treatment derived from peppermint oil on the cover of the Foldaway mattress. When applied to fabric, it hinders odours and bacteria. The treatment lasts up to 100 washes and is odourless. It is applied to both the "Winter" and "Summer" sides of the Foldaway mattress cover.

How should I store the Foldaway mattress when not in use?

Secure the Foldaway mattress with the included elastic strap, and store in a well-ventilated area away from damp and moisture.

Can I use the Koala Foldaway Mattress as a mattress topper?
