Made with high-density foam, Koala mattresses take around 3-5 days to fully expand to their correct shape and feel. However, you can sleep on it right away—it only gets better over time! Koala Mattresses only use foam that has been CertiPUR-US® certified, meaning it has been tested to meet CertiPUR-US®' rigorous standards for emissions, content, performance, and durability. The foam in our mattresses is made without harmful phthalates, and they are made without the use of ozone-depleting substances including methylene chloride and other CFCs. Koala Mattress foam has also been tested to have low VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 parts per million).

Choosing the right mattress is only part of the equation—your bed frame matters too. As long as your base provides adequate support and ventilation, it will work with any Koala Mattress, including our memory foam mattresses. If you're using a slat base, keep the slats no more than 7.5cm apart to ensure proper mattress support.

While posture slats can be used, they may make the mattress feel softer than intended. For the best comfort—especially if you prefer extra firm support—we recommend straight (flat) slats.

We don’t suggest placing your mattress directly on the floor without ventilation, as this can cause moisture build-up. Similarly, adjustable beds aren't ideal, as bending or folding the mattress may damage the core or supportive layers.
