This dreamy rug is ethically sourced and traced from 100% New Zealand Wool. Inspired by running creek water, the organic wave pattern evokes serenity. The mixed technique of cut pile and loop pile gives this hand tufted rug an ultra soft padding underfoot.

How to care for your new Shear Bliss Rug

Always use a good quality underlay below this rug to prevent movement and to protect the rug.

Vacuum

Vacuum the rug using suction only vacuum at least once a week to remove dust and to prevent particles becoming embedded in the pile. When using the vacuum, use it with care, go slow.

Prevent Spills

Remove spills immediately. Blot spills with a paper towel or colourless cloth, do not wipe or scrub. Spot clean gently with a small amount of liquid detergent and warm water. Professional cleaning is recommended for tough stains.

Regular care

  • Regular airing is recommended.
  • Do not soak, bleach or machine wash this rug.
  • Rotate your rug every 3-6 months to reduce uneven wear & tear.
  • Keep away from direct sunlight.
  • Ensure the rug is completely dry before packaging away to prevent mould and mildew.

Unique

Our handmade rugs are made by skilled artisans. Colours may vary slightly from dye lot to dye lot. Loose fibres, or 'sprouts', are a normal part of the break-in process of handmade wool rugs. Shedding is normal and will vary on the construction of the rug. Shedding will usually subside over time, though some wool rugs may continue to shed mildly for the lifetime of the rug.

Free metro delivery on any order with a mattress. Regional deliveries are charged per item.

Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane Metro customers can also select premium delivery that includes assembly and rubbish removal on select items at an additional cost.

      Love this new rug - perfect for my room

      I just love my new rug and it goes really well with my setup. I read up on it quite a lot before buying it and knew about the possible shedding before buying it. It still sheds a bit but the texture and thickness outweighs any other rug I had my eye on.

      Great minamilist looking rug

      Great neutral coloured rug that fits in well with the modern, minamilist, natural aesthetic. This rug does she'd however as I vaccum it regularly it's not too much of an issue and I kind of like the natural nature of it. After all it is a wool rug! Great quality and style for the price. Arrived promptly and was immediately happy with it for my lounge area.

      Not quite sure yet

      The rug looks great and adds interest to the floor because of it's texture. It's a nice muted tone and helps to lighten the space since we have darker furniture. In saying that, it is shedding something crazy. We have had it on the floor for just over two weeks now. I've vacuumed it at least 3-4 times and each time it has filled our vacuum canister (which isn't small) multiple times for just one pass over the whole thing. Beyond that, normal frequent traipsing causes fluff balls to appear (per the image), which I then collect and it makes a much larger ball (also in image).

      I'm hoping over time it will come good as it says that it will, but only time will tell.

      Very soft

      This rug is just what I was looking for the bedroom. It's got soft pink hues and is soft underfoot. I wish it was a tiny bit bigger but it's just because g enough to keep my feet warm as I get out of our queen bed.

      Sheer Bliss

      An absolute makeover for the bedroom. Have just had the carpet replaced with timber flooring, the Shear Bliss rug looks fabulous with the Kirribilli bed base and bedside tables.

    What does RWS and ZQ mean?

    RWS is an internationally recognised voluntary standard that addresses the welfare of sheep and the land they graze on. A product that states the RWS logo means all sites beginning with the wool farmers, factories and Koala are certified.

    The certification ensures mulesing is strictly prohibited, best practices in the management and protection of the land, and sheep are treated with respect to the Five Freedoms. More information can be found RWS wool ZQ is an on-farm certification programme established by NZM in 2007 and was the first of its kind in the world to require growers to meet strict standards with regard to animal welfare, environmental integrity, social responsibility, colour quality, and traceability.

    These 2 standards are aligned to maximize the positive impact of both programmes on the environment, farming communities, and livestock.

    Does mulesing still occur on farms?

    During our development process, we conducted an in-depth research into responsible wool. There are countries around that world that still practice mulesing. One of the main reasons why Koala have chosen to use NZ wool is that NZ officially banned the practice of mulesing in October 2018.

    Are sheep harmed in the process of harvesting wool?

    Wool is harvested through a process called shearing. (It's like getting a 'number 4' haircut.)

    Shearers are highly skilled people and pride themselves on careful handling of the sheep. They leave a good covering of wool on the sheep, to keep them warm. Machine shears are the most popular tool for shearing, as they are fast and efficient, for minimal stress on the animal.

    Sheep have been bred for thousands of years to grow wool, therefore shearing is not just about harvesting wool — it's also about keeping the animals comfortable, relieving them from having to endure the hot summer months with a heavy fleece.

    As part of being certified, the farms are third party audited including random audits conducted during the shearing season.
