How to care for your Outdoor Dining Tables

Metal Components
- Regularly clean metal surface with mild soap, warm water and rinse clean and dry with a clean, soft cloth.
- Particular care must be taken when exposed to a salty environment.
- Do not use abrasive products or chemicals that can scratch the surface.

Plastic Components
- Clean plastic surfaces with a mixture of mild soap and water.
- Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners that may damage the material.

Timber Care
- Wipe down the furniture regularly with a damp cloth to remove dust, dirt, and debris. This prevents buildup and maintains the wood's appearance.
- Direct sunlight can cause teak wood to fade over time. Consider placing outdoor furniture in shaded areas or using covers to protect it from prolonged exposure to sunlight.
- To prevent fading and maintaining the natural color of teak from sun, rain, moisture and other factors use teak protector regularly.
- Use Teak Protector only on teak wood to avoid discolouration, and other problems or maintenance-related issues.
- Do not place hot or wet liquids directly on the surface as it may mark the timber.
- To prevent scratches, avoid dragging sharp or heavy objects across the surface of the furniture. Use coasters or felt pads under items to protect the wood from damage.

Fabric Care:
- Regularly brush off dirt and debris from fabric surfaces. Do not scrub with a stiff brush.
- Remove any spills immediately.
- Spot clean stains promptly with a mild detergent and water solution.
- Do not machine wash.
- Use a clean cloth to blot out any excess liquid.
- Do not bleach. Do not soak.
- Allow cushions to dry in a well ventilated area away from direct sunlight.
- Do not iron.
- Do not tumble dry.
- Do not dry clean.

Always ensure seat cushions, fabrics are completely dry before storing.
During prolonged periods of non-use or inclement weather, store cushions and fabric components in a cool dry, ventilated area away from sun or use protective covers.

NOTE: Pre test the cleaning method on a hidden area of the cushion and timber. If there is a change in colour, discontinue use.

      Outdoor Tables.

      I put in an order for a table then it was cancelled because I had trouble with a credit card. My fault not yours.

      I spoke to Koala help who put in a new order for me, however at some point the 1st table was still dispatched.

      We now have 2 tables which we decided to keep but we have only paid for one as far as I can see.

      I contacted Koala help again who sent a message we couldn't understand and asked for a strait out bill. We have not heard back so far.

      This is frustrating but through all this Koala have tried to sort it out, have been helpful, courteous and really nice to deal with.

      Solid and beautiful

      Good hardware, umbrella hole not quite lined up

      Very happy with the table with the one irk that the umbrella hole spans 2 planks of wood and the alignment is off enough to visibly notice.

      The support team at Koala have said it’s within tolerance but at the price point it’s at I don’t think that’s the case to warrant a 5 star review that it otherwise would have received.

    Can I leave my outdoor furniture outside all year round?

    Some materials can withstand year-round exposure, but it's generally recommended to store furniture and your outdoor dining table during extreme weather conditions. Covers and storage can significantly extend the life of your furniture.

    Can I pressure wash my outdoor furniture?

    For cleaning your Torakina furniture, we caution against the use of high-pressure settings on a pressure washer, as this can cause permanent damage to the timber's surface. To ensure a safe and effective clean, please use a low-pressure setting and keep the nozzle at an appropriate distance.

    For most outdoor timber furniture, a much safer and more effective cleaning method is to use a soft-bristle brush and a specialised wood cleaner.

    1. Use a Cleaning Solution: Apply a dedicated outdoor teak cleaner to the furniture. These cleaners are formulated to safely lift dirt, grime, and mildew without damaging the wood fibers.
    2. Scrub Gently: Use a soft brush or a non-abrasive scrubbing pad to gently work the cleaner into the wood, scrubbing along the grain.
    3. Rinse Thoroughly: Use a standard garden hose with a spray nozzle to rinse the furniture completely. This will wash away the cleaner and the loosened dirt.
    4. Allow to Dry: Let the furniture dry completely. This can take a day or two depending on the weather and humidity. The wood should return to a light, uniform color before you apply any new oil or finish.
    5. Apply New Teak protectant oil: There are many options to choose from, from a linseed oil right through to a marine grade oil and protector depending on the environment the products are in. While we don’t provide a specific recommendations, hardware or specialist stores will have a range of suitable products to choose from.

    Can I re-stain, paint or oil the timber?

    We do not recommend oiling, painting or staining the teak on your outdoor dining set. Painting or staining the teak will interfere with its natural weather-resistant properties and over-oiling can attract dirt and mildew. If you feel that the teak needs some protection, we suggest looking for teak protector rather than an oil. Please note that oiling, painting or staining the timber may also void your warranty

    How can I remove stains from the timber?

    Teak, like any timber that is kept outdoors, requires ongoing maintenance to keep it looking its best. We recommend this is done at least seasonally, or when the teak starts to silver or have excessive dirt and mildew buildup. Even if the timber has completely silvered, you can still bring it back to new by cleaning and re-oiling / protecting the finish.

    There are many options to choose from, from a linseed oil right through to a marine grade oil and protector depending on the environment the products are in. While we don’t provide a specific recommendations, hardware or specialist stores will have a range of suitable products to choose from.

    Is it normal for teak to crack or develop splits?

    Yes, cracks and splits in teak are normal and can be caused by changes in moisture and temperature. These cracks are typically superficial and do not affect the durability or structural integrity of the table

    Can I put the cushions in the washing machine?

    Our outdoor range cushions are not made to be machine washed. If you need to clean any spills or stains, please spot clean with a mild detergent and water solution only. Make sure to blot out any excess liquid with a clean cloth and allow to dry away from direct sunlight.

    NOTE: always test your cleaning solution on a hidden spot in case of colour change or transfer

    Are the cushions included with the chairs?

    All our dining and outdoor lounge seats come with matching cushions.

    What is "silvering" or "graying" and why is my teak furniture changing colour?

    The "silvering" or "graying" of teak is a completely natural process. When teak is exposed to the sun's UV rays and outdoor elements, the natural surface oils (lignin) begin to break down. This causes the rich, golden-brown color to gradually fade and transform into a beautiful, soft silver-gray patina over a period of several months. This is a highly sought-after aesthetic for many designers and homeowners and does not affect the structural integrity or durability of the timber.

    Is the silvering of my furniture a defect or a sign of poor quality?

    No. The silver-gray patina is a characteristic and natural part of the aging process for teak and is a sign of its authenticity. This is the natural way the wood protects itself from the elements. Manufacturers use various Teak protectant oils to keep it protected from elements.

    How can I prevent the silvering and maintain the original colour of my timber furniture??

    To maintain the warm, honey-brown color of your teak, you will need to apply a protective finish. We recommend using an outdoor teak oil that contains UV inhibitors.

    Regular Maintenance: The frequency of reapplication depends on your climate. In sunny, humid conditions, you may need to re-oil every 3 to 6 months. In more temperate climates, once or twice a ye
