Torakina Outdoor Dining Seating

Some materials can withstand year-round exposure, but it's generally recommended to store furniture and your outdoor dining table during extreme weather conditions. Covers and storage can significantly extend the life of your furniture.

For cleaning your Torakina furniture, we caution against the use of high-pressure settings on a pressure washer, as this can cause permanent damage to the timber's surface. To ensure a safe and effective clean, please use a low-pressure setting and keep the nozzle at an appropriate distance.

For most outdoor timber furniture, a much safer and more effective cleaning method is to use a soft-bristle brush and a specialised wood cleaner.

1. Use a Cleaning Solution: Apply a dedicated outdoor teak cleaner to the furniture. These cleaners are formulated to safely lift dirt, grime, and mildew without damaging the wood fibers.
2. Scrub Gently: Use a soft brush or a non-abrasive scrubbing pad to gently work the cleaner into the wood, scrubbing along the grain.
3. Rinse Thoroughly: Use a standard garden hose with a spray nozzle to rinse the furniture completely. This will wash away the cleaner and the loosened dirt.
4. Allow to Dry: Let the furniture dry completely. This can take a day or two depending on the weather and humidity. The wood should return to a light, uniform color before you apply any new oil or finish.
5. Apply New Teak protectant oil: There are many options to choose from, from a linseed oil right through to a marine grade oil and protector depending on the environment the products are in. While we don’t provide a specific recommendations, hardware or specialist stores will have a range of suitable products to choose from.

We do not recommend oiling, painting or staining the teak on your outdoor dining set. Painting or staining the teak will interfere with its natural weather-resistant properties and over-oiling can attract dirt and mildew. If you feel that the teak needs some protection, we suggest looking for teak protector rather than an oil. Please note that oiling, painting or staining the timber may also void your warranty

Teak, like any timber that is kept outdoors, requires ongoing maintenance to keep it looking its best. We recommend this is done at least seasonally, or when the teak starts to silver or have excessive dirt and mildew buildup. Even if the timber has completely silvered, you can still bring it back to new by cleaning and re-oiling / protecting the finish.

Yes, cracks and splits in teak are normal and can be caused by changes in moisture and temperature. These cracks are typically superficial and do not affect the durability or structural integrity of the table

Our outdoor range cushions are not made to be machine washed. If you need to clean any spills or stains, please spot clean with a mild detergent and water solution only. Make sure to blot out any excess liquid with a clean cloth and allow to dry away from direct sunlight.
