Thrivability

We’re working hard to make our business and products more than just sustainable. We want to be Thrivable. This challenges us to find positive outcomes and impacts. We believe that simply doing ‘no harm’ isn’t good enough and business can only thrive if society and nature also thrive. So we’re making ‘thriving’ our version of business as usual.

wanted and kept

Consumption has a huge impact on our planet. At Koala, we believe in reducing needless waste. We design a small number of high quality, on-trend yet timeless products in-house. We test the products for durability, and have developed our furniture to move with our customers so they’re kept longer.

koalafied product design

We believe that thoughtful innovation can change the world for the better and small changes can make a real difference. Our designers use a scorecard to help create products to have less impact on our planet - from how we use resources, to how we get our products to customers door.

sustainable material sourcing

As a business, we cannot survive unless the planet does too. Our targets and policies push us to protect endangered species and habitats, increasingly source certified sustainable and recycled materials, and preserve natural resources.

ethical supply chain

We’re only as good as the people we work with. We visit all key suppliers, conduct a risk profile, and ask them to agree to our Supplier Code of Conduct. We partner with the global non-profit SEDEX (Suppliers Ethical Data Exchange) to assess their ethical, social, health & safety, and environmental practices.

healthy products

Our furniture, mattresses and linen are sat on, nestled into, cuddled, and form part of our customers’ everyday lives. This is why we test our products for safety and to ensure they don’t bring any nasties into the home. They’re low VOC and adhere to our list of no-go chemicals.

product end of life

No product is made without planning for its end of life. Right now all of our returned mattresses and furniture are donated to charity or recycled. We’re also members of SoftLanding, which is a social enterprise that aims to recycle as many mattresses as possible.

a great place to work

Koala Kulture is about being part of a business that is challenging the status quo and wants to make the world a better place. We want to be sustainable where we work too, so we purchase carbon neutral energy, recycle, have a sustainable Koala cafe, and buy products that provide a social benefit where we can.

helping our community

At Koala, we believe everyone deserves happiness, and that happiness begins at home. Since we launched in 2015 we have been donating our products to help the vulnerable within our community when they need a little kindness the most.

wildlife and habitat conservation

Helping habitats thrive is what gets Koala up in the morning. We work with expert partners like WWF to help save the habitats of some of our endangered Aussie creatures, and as our product range grows, so too will the habitats. Learn more
