      Feels sturdy when built - silent and looks stylish

      Bought with a small amount of hesitation as I couldn't see the product in person, but was pleasantly surprised once built, which took no more than forty minutes and was very straightforward. I received four extra dowels which had me scratching my head trying to figure out where they go, but I couldn't find anything in the instructions and the rest of the bed already had dowels pre-inserted where needed.

      Some parts of the frame, like the piece right at the end of the bed felt flimsy, but once the weight of a mattress was on top, all of the flex disappeared and it felt very rigid.

      There is occasionally a very faint wooden knock of the slats adjusting under a mattres when you get on, but once there is weight on the mattress, the frame is silent.

      The headboard barely shifts back and forth, even when pushing on it with a reasonable amount of force.

      Philips Hue and other LED strips can be stuck on the over and down the sides the struts holding up the headboard which makes for a really pleasing aesthetic experience as well.

      Some mattresses (both of the ones I used did) will slide a few cm on the frame if a bit of pressure is applied to the edge of the mattress. It is stopped on the other side by the rim that runs around the edge of the frame, but this could be an issue and you may find yourself frequently pushing the mattress back to the centre of the frame if it bothers you.

      One final note would be that the packaging is all recyclable and doesn't include any plastic - except…

      Great bed base

      We recently upgraded to the Koala Kirribilli Bed Base in king size, and it’s honestly the nicest bed frame we’ve ever owned. The design is simple, modern, and elegant. It feels like a piece of furniture that really lifts the whole bedroom. The Warm Ash finish is beautiful and matches perfectly with our other wooden furniture.

      Assembly was surprisingly easy. Everything slotted together smoothly without needing power tools, and the instructions were straightforward. Once built, the bed feels rock solid with no squeaks or wobbles. The slats provide excellent support for the mattress, and the height is just right for getting in and out comfortably.

      Overall, this is a premium, well-built bed frame that looks stunning and feels durable. It’s definitely more expensive than some other options, but the quality and design make it worth it.

    How much weight can my bed base hold?

    Although we don’t provide a specific weight limit on our beds because everyone uses them differently, we’ve put this bed through its paces with rigorous testing of key components up to 240kg static weight. This does not mean the bed can not take more weight.

    Can I assemble my bed base without the bedhead?

    Yes the bed base can be used without the bedhead. Please store the bedhead carefully when not in use.

    Is there space under the bed and can I store items under there?

    The Kirribilli bed base is specifically designed without a center leg to maximize underbed storage. We still highly recommend leaving some space for optimum air-flow.

    How do I recycle the packaging?

    When you get rid of packaging thoughtfully, not only is it better for the environment, it can be reused to create new products. Paper and Cardboard (including Honeycomb Cardboard) - Flatten your cardboard boxes or rip them up before placing them in your recycling bin in order to save space. You don’t need to worry about removing any tape or labels from your cardboard boxes. They will be removed in the recycling process.If you’re ever unsure, pay a visit to recyclingnearyou.com.au or contact your local council, or take a peek at our blog for some great ideas on how to reuse and recycle the packaging.

    Can I paint or stain the bed base?

    We do not recommend painting or staining your Balmain Bed Base. Painting or staining your bed base may affect your warranty as we do not cover damage caused by alterations or modification made to the product.
