Sharing an Aussie lifestyle with the world
We are a part of 1% for the Planet
We put our money where our mouth is. We were the first Australian mattress and furniture retailer to join the 1% for the Planet movement. This means we donate one percent of gross sales annually for the good of our people and planet. Since 2017, we’ve donated over $6.5M in cash and product to 1%FTP-certified environmental partners.
We're proudly a B-Corp business
We’re proud to be B-Corp certified, which means we stick to the highest social and environmental standards. We’re stoked to be a part of a group of companies working together to build a more inclusive and sustainable economy.
We continue to support WWF
Since 2017, Koala has proudly partnered with WWF-Australia with the common goal to protect threatened and endangered wildlife across our country. Since the beginning of our partnership we have donation over $3.5M to these conservation efforts.
Recycling mattresses via Soft Landing
Over 1.6 million mattresses end up in landfill each year, with only 15% recycled. Cheap mass-produced items may seem like a good short-term fix, but it’s the planet that ends up footing the bill. We've partnered with Soft Landing, a mattress recycling social enterprise, to remove and recycle your old mattress for a reasonable fee. As a social enterprise they recycle as many mattresses as possible and protect the environment by reducing landfill. When we all think long-term and sustainably, we can reverse this trend.
Our reflect & reconciliation plan
At its heart, reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians. As a brand that is proudly Australian owned and centred on strong Australian influences, we want to proactively use our collective resources to support, include, advocate and learn more about our First Nations Peoples as a way towards influencing a shared sense of national unity and identity. We invite you to spend time with our Reflect Reconciliation Action Plan (May, 2023 – May, 2024).
Modern Slavery Statement
We are committed to improving our practices to combat modern slavery in all its forms by implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to ensure slavery is not taking place anywhere in our operations, including our supply chains.
