Like all products in Australia, our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

Billing & Payments

There is no maximum amount of gift cards that can be applied to an order (which would make an excellent wedding gift idea). However there could be a slight delay for the payment to process compared to a normal credit card purchase.

Yes you can apply gift cards, and discount codes to orders even if using a buy-now-pay-later payment option.

Customers purchasing using Zipmoney, and Openpay are subject to credit approval by those providers. There may have been an issue relating to your payment. Please reach out to our team at support@koala.com and we can check the progress of your payment.

In order to qualify for approval for more than $500 in credit, you need to be an Afterpay customer with a successful payment history. If you are a new Afterpay customer, the first payment will be made at the time of purchase, with payments at regular intervals over the next 6 weeks.

Things that might be affecting your Afterpay limit:

  • are there sufficient funds on your card (generally they look to see 25% of the order value available to spend)
  • length of time you have been using Afterpay (typically $500 for new customers)
  • amount you have to repay, it may help to pay some off (not a guarantee)
  • adding a credit card may increase your spending power (not a guarantee)

Please contact Afterpay for more information about your specific situation.

All Openpay plans have fortnightly repayment schedules.

For purchases up to $2000 you are eligible to repay the amount fortnightly with a 20% payment made upfront, and $1 account management fee added to each repayment.

For purchases over $1500, and up to $5000 you are eligible to repay the amount fortnightly over 6 months with a $25 establishment fee, 20% payment made upfront, and $3 account management fee added to each repayment.

Zip offers two payment solutions: Zippay for purchases under $1000, and Zipmoney for purchases over $1000.

Zippay customers have until the end of the month to repay the total amount due. If you need extra time to pay off your balance you'll just need to pay the monthly minimum of $40, and a $6 account fee will be added to your balance for the following month. If you repay the total amount, the $6 account fee is waived.

Zipmoney customers can schedule their repayments to be made weekly, fortnightly or monthly as long as you pay the minimum of $40 per month (or whatever is left owing). You can make additional payments which will not incur any fees, and will not stop your schedule from running.

Customers using Afterpay repay their purchase every fortnight for 8 weeks with the first payment made upon purchase.

Customers can spend up to the following amount through our 3 buy-now-pay-later providers:

Afterpay has a limit of up to $2000 with a first time customer limit of $500. Customers are also eligible for the Variable Payment Upfront option online which is a product feature that enables customers to make a variable payment upfront at the time of purchase when their cart value is higher than their available Afterpay limit.

Zip has a limit of $1000 for Zippay with the option to use Zipmoney for purchases over $1000 and up to $5000. Customers applying for Zipmoney are subject to credit approval.

Openpay has a limit of $2000 for plans over 4 months, and $5000 for plans over 6 months. Customers applying for Openpay are subject to credit approval.

Yes, we do! Our three buy-now-pay-later providers all offer 0% interest for Koala customers when repayments are made on time. Simply select Zipmoney, Afterpay, or Openpay during checkout to apply, you will receive an answer within seconds and can purchase straight away. Customers seeking to purchase using Zipmoney, and Openpay are subject to credit approval.

We accept Mastercard, VISA, Amex, Diners Club, PayPal, Afterpay, Zipmoney and Openpay. We operate online, so unfortunately we cannot accept cash. For security reasons we don't accept payment over the phone.

You can apply for an Afterpay account during checkout, however typically new accounts have a $500 limit.

First get pre-approved (it takes 3 minutes), then select ZipMoney during checkout!

Pillow

The koala pillow is designed and assembled in Australia and made by our friends in China.

Our pillow's core is made from 100% polyurethane gel foam. It's infused with a cooling gel and has built-in ventilation. The foam meets CertiPUR-US® program standards for content, emissions and durability, and is analysed by independent, accredited testing laboratories. The cover is made from 66% polyester and 34% TENCEL™ Lyocell.

Mattress

As long as your bed base has adequate support and ventilation, it'll work with the koala mattress. If it's a slat base, the slats should be no more than 7.5cm apart.

Beds from some (swedish) furniture stores are smaller than standard Australian sizes, however, we've tried these ourselves and the koala mattress still fits. You can squeeze the mattress onto a bed frame up to 3cm smaller than the mattress.

If you need to buy a new base, check out our timber bed base. It's strong, easy to assemble and can be delivered in 4 hours with your new mattress.

In selected areas of Sydney and Melbourne we've partnered with Soft Landing, a mattress recycling social enterprise, to remove and recycle your old mattress for FREE.

Once you've ordered your koala mattress, we'll send you the details to book your mattress pick up through Soft Landing. Get your koala mattress now.

At Koala we use the world’s most advanced manufacturing technology to provide superior comfort and a cleaner, greener mattress. The Koala Mattress outperforms all other conventional mattresses on the market and exceeds Australasian & Global environmental regulations. We only use GECA (Good Environmental Choice Australia) certified foam in our mattresses. It has undergone rigorous and thorough assessment against the GECA Standards. The GECA label is only awarded to products that have the highest environmental credentials and represent the leading environmentally preferable options in the marketplace. This foam was assessed across its entire lifecycle to be better for the environment, have a lower impact on human health and have been ethically made. There are no heavy metals (such as lead or mercury) in the Koala Mattress. The Koala Mattress does not contain phthalates. The Koala Mattress is made without the use of ozone-depleting substances (methylene chloride).

We test our mattresses rigorously to make sure they're perfect for people of all shapes and sizes. It's designed to distribute weight evenly, not to sink or bend in the middle. The mattress comes with a 10 year warranty, which protects you against sagging regardless of your weight. Try it for yourself with our risk-free 120-night trial.

You can try the mattress at home with our risk-free 120-night trial. If you don't love it, you can return it for a full refund. In Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide and Perth, we'll even pay for return shipping, or pick up your return for free.

The koala mattress is made in Australia from technologically advanced, modern polyurethane foam. It does not contain any latex or memory foam, and is engineered for a cooler feel. Find out more about the koala mattress and its construction.

Yes the mattress is flame retardant, but we do this using a flame retardant stockinette, not dangerous chemicals.

Cardboard boxes can be recycled in your kerbside cardboard and paper bin.

Some councils will allow “LDPE 4” in your regular plastic recycling. If yours doesn’t, you can recycle the soft plastic at any REDcycle collection point (found at most Coles and Woolies stores). Please cut the plastic into A3 size sheets before putting them in the bin.

The koala mattress has been rigorously tested for all the nasty chemicals that can be found in other mattresses.

Here's how you know it's safe:

  • ✔ Made with GECA certified foam to ensure a lower impact on human health
  • ✔ Very low VOC emissions
  • ✔ Doesn't contain heavy metals (such as lead or mercury)
  • ✔ Doesn't contain phthalates
  • ✔ Made without ozone-depleting substances (methylene chloride)

Yes, the koala mattress is extremely flexible and works well with most adjustable bed frames. An adjustable base won't damage your mattress or void your 10-year warranty. Test if the mattress is a perfect fit for your base with our 120-night risk-free trial.

Always remove your mattress cover before cleaning. Unzip the mattress cover and hand wash in warm soapy water. Remember to line dry and treat the cover as you would your favourite dress or shirt. The mattress cover must be completely dry before being zipped back on the mattress.

Unfortunately not without the required industrial equipment! It is easy however to store or move it by folding your mattress in half and tying it with a length of rope. Find out what else the koala mattress can do.

The Koala Mattress is specially compressed for ease of shipping. It can take 3-5 days for the mattress to come back to its correct shape and feel, but you can sleep on it right away. It will just get better over the first few days.

Compression or pre-crushing is actually great for foam. This compression removes any inconsistencies within the foams hardness and density. The level of compression within the Koala Mattress reduces the risk of body signatures and drastically increases the foams longevity.

Yes it's safe to use an electric blanket on top of the koala mattress. The mattress even contains a flame retardant stockinette for extra safety.

We strongly recommend you always use a mattress protector with your Koala mattress. Using a mattress protector is far more hygienic and will result in improved durability and hygiene of your mattress.

We don't recommend putting the koala mattress on the floor as it prohibits airflow, which can cause mould and other damage. If you need to buy a new base, check out our timber bed base.

Our mattress is made in Sydney, Australia.

No, the koala mattress is engineered to keep you cool and comfortable. We don't use memory foam or latex, which can feel hot. Even better, our comfort layer is made from a open cell breathable foam allowing heat to escape.

All-Nighter Bedside Table

We use American White Oak to veneer the plywood and MDF.

The rounded back corners are made from Solid American Ash.

The bed base has a Red Oak veneer and the bedside table uses White Oak. Because of the different species of Oak, we don't try to create a perfect match between the bed base and the bedside table.

Different factories have different sourcing capabilities, we find it's best to work with materials they know.

We also like to use blonde timber tones so while they don't match, they work well together to create a harmonious colour palette.

No, it comes fully assembled. Just remove it from the box, give it a light dusting and it's ready to go.

The silicone rings help you to change the bedlinen. The Koala bedlinen has ties on the inside of the linen. You can tie these to the silicone rings in the coner of your duvet to make it really easy to change over your duvet covers and also to stop the duvet moving around too much inside the cover. They are even colour co-ordinated so you know which is the top and the bottom!

Fill power is a measure of the loft or "fluffiness" of a product. The higher the fill power, the more air that the filling can trap, therefore the better insulation.

TOG stands for Thermal Overall Grade and is used to measure the thermal insulation of a product. The higher the Tog rating of a duvet, the warmer it is.

WFH Desk

Again, red wine we're looking at you. We recommend using a mild soapy-water solution then drying with a soft cloth. If you do need to use a cleaning agent for stubborn stains, we recommend SPRAY n WIPE or Windex by applying it on the cleaning cloth not directly on the surface of the desk. You can clean off these stubborn stains by applying firm pressure with the cleaning agent over the entire area in a circular motion then immediately following with a lightly water-dampened cloth and buff dry.

For general maintenance, we recommend giving it a bit of a dust and wipe down once a week to prevent build-up of dirt and dust. If there are any spills and marks they should be cleaned up as quickly as possible so they do not set or dry into the surface (red wine we're looking at you). For light spills or marks you can use a damp, clean microfibre style cloth or soft cotton rag.

The antimicrobial protection will remain effective against bacteria, fungi, mould, yeast, and algae for the lifetime of the coating so as long as you clean it properly, and without abrasive products that may damage the finish. Look after it, and it'll look after you.

While MDF Powder Coatings are generally resistant to solvents, the use of any of the following may damage the finish of the product: bleach, ammonia, acid, abrasive powders like baking soda, caustic products, acetone, or MEK (methyl ethyl ketone) and similar hydrocarbons, oven cleaners, wire wool, scouring pads or sandpaper.

Here's where the scientists do their job: It has been proven to quickly reduce bacteria by up to 99.99%, and has been independently tested and certified to ISO 22196. The coating has been tested, and proven to be effective for reducing the growth of MRSA, E. coli, Salmonella, Campylobacter, Legionella and over 50 other species.

The wfh desk has been coated with a UV and ULB PermaQure Antimicrobial
Powder which provides antimicrobial protection by preventing the growth of bacteria, and has been proven to inhibit the growth of most types of harmful bacterial including infection-causing bacteria, and reduce the opportunity for fungal growth.

The desk can safely hold up to 40 kg of weight evenly distributed across the top surface.

We understand the lives of our customers are very hectic, therefore we have created a durable, hard-wearing fabric that will live with you. But just like you, it likes to feel looked after, like having a date night once a week.

Once a week you should make sure you vacuum your sofa. This will help remove excess dirt, fibres or pet hair. By vacuuming, you'll reduce the risk of pilling - stopping those pesky fibres from getting the chance to mingle.

If you have pets, a lint brush or roller will help to keep your fabric looking brand new. Sometimes hair can get trapped between the fabric threads and a lint brush will remove this straight away.

If your Saturday night got a little out of control and you've woken up to some unsightly stains on your sofa, this can easily be remedied, click here to look at all our tips and tricks.

Pilling is a very normal part of owning a fabric sofa and can be caused by loads of different factors around the home.

Throws, rugs, clothes & pets can all leave additional fibres and as the surface comes in contact with a single or small group of fibres, the yarns will begin to twist, forming what is known as ‘pills’.

Don’t forget that your sofa is brand-spanking new and the yarns we used to create it contain millions of individual fibres. Losing a few of these on the surface as the fabric settles is as normal as wearing thongs to the beach.

The great news is, removing pilling is a piece of cake and will not affect the performance of your fabric. You can remove the pills yourself with an electric fabric shaver.

You can also vacuum your sofa on a weekly basis, this will help maintain the sofa and reduce the pilling.

If you experience pilling on your sofa fabric or even feel like a chat about your weekend you can contact our friendly customer service team and they'll be able to steer you in the right direction.

Our sofa bed folds out to be a full size QUEEN mattress.

When you sit on the mattress it feels medium soft, but when you lay down your weight is spread more evenly across the mattress which gives a firmer more supportive feel.

The cover can be spot cleaned, but is not removable for a machine wash.

Good question! It comes in right between being a 2.5 (big enough for 3 full sized adults to sit side by side!)
