How often should you rotate your mattress?

What happens to a mattress during use?

Every night you rest on your mattress you are putting downward pressure onto all of the layers. Maintaining the structural integrity of the mattress is important to ensure it continues to provide its 2 requirements for the perfect night’s sleep: support, and comfort.

Calm As Mattress is listed as one of the best mattress for hot sleepers in Australia

Why is it important to rotate your mattress?

You likely sleep in the same spot each night, so without rotation, your mattress will wind up with your body impression. To avoid this, we recommend rotating your mattress by 180° every month.

No matter what your mattress is made of you will need to rotate it to not only provide you the highest quality (koala-ty!) sleep but ensure you do not void your mattress warranty due to improper use.

How often should you rotate your mattress?

We recommend that our customers rotate their Koala mattress 180 degrees every month. Way more frequently than you’d expect, huh?

There is a general consensus online that you need to rotate your mattress every 3 to 12 months to keep your body in neutral alignment, and even out daily wear, and tear.

We recommend setting a reminder alert on your phone every month to rotate your mattress (or, if you purchase one of our mattresses, we’ll send a cute little reminder straight to your inbox). Ensure that you clear a space next to the bed to give yourself plenty of room, and get a mate to help. If you’re going for extra gold stars, you can even give your mattress a quick vacuum on low suction to suck up dust, dust mites and…yes…skin cells.

When should you flip a mattress?

A friendly reminder that rotating does! not! mean! flipping! Modern mattresses, including ours, aren’t designed for flippy flippy.

For example, the Koala Mattress is comprised of two layers: a support, and a flippable comfort layer. The bottom layer is the support layer of high-density eco foam while the top comfort layer is made of our Kloudcell foam that is soft to touch. Flipping the mattress would cause some damn uncomfortable sleep.Thats not to mention the Calm As Mattress with 3 layers, or the Soul Mate Mattress with 5!

It is recommended that to flip, and rotate spring mattresses without a pillow-top every 6 months. However, if your mattress isn’t giving you the support you need, start your 120 night trial with the Koala Mattress today!

Do I need a mattress protector?

Without being too sales-y, it really is a great idea to add a mattress protector to the mix.

A protector will help keep the mattress underneath clean and looking its best. You’ll want a mattress protector that’s breathable and water resistant – ideally antimicrobial and easily washable, such as our Great Barrier Mattress Protector.
