It turns out that the average current pillow is most likely full of dust mites, oil, bacteria, and fungi. In fact, a 2005 study by the University of Manchester found that of 10 pillows between 1.5 to 20 years of usage each pillow contained AT LEAST 4 to 16 types of fungi. Talk about gross!
This year Koala released the ultimate pillow – something that is both firm, and soft, environmentally friendly, good for your health, and wrapped in our luxurious eucalyptus textiles. But what makes it so great that has made it so popular among our customers?
Both firm, and soft
The Koala Pillow is both firm, and soft so you can flip it to the side you prefer! The secret to it’s duo usage is the conical holes throughout the pillows which double as providing alternative firmness, and optimal ventilation.
On one side are smaller holes which compresses less to provide a firmer feel for those who require extra neck support.
On the other side is large holes that compress more to cradle your head like a soft dough, and provide a lower profile.
To make differentiating the sides even easier, we’ve added a firmness indicator label so you know which side is which. S is for soft, F is for firm.
Never look for the “cool side” again
Nothing better than the feeling of flipping your pillow, and laying your head on the “cool side”. Have that feeling throughout the night with the Koala Pillow which is cool throughout due to being made of CertiPUR-US® certified, 100% polyurethane gel foam that has cooling gel infused throughout. The cooling gel infusion creates a cooler, softer memory foam that maintains it’s form for better support than traditional memory foams.
Unbelievably soft cover
Koala’s pillow cover is made from 66% polyester and 34% TENCEL™ Lyocell.
TENCEL Lyocell is naturally soft to touch, gentle on your skin, smooth, are an unfavourable environment for bacteria to grow, regulate absorption of moisture, release moisture, no electromagnetic charges so no static!
Plus, they feel so damn good.
No harmful chemicals
Our CertiPUR-US® certified pillows have been analysed by independent, accredited testing laboratories. They contain low VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions for indoor air quality (less than 0.5 million parts per million), and are made without ozone depleters, mercury, AZO dyes, lead and other heavy metals, and no formaldehyde.
Easy to clean
Your pillow cases should be changed every 2 days according to experts, and we made washing your pillow cover just as easy! Simply use the zipper to remove the pillow cover, pop it in the wash, and dry with low or medium heat. You can read more about how you should wash your textiles here. We recommend cold washing all textiles!
Playful packaging that doubles as storage
Koala is known for our unboxing experiences from the mattress that pops out of a box, to story book sheets, and the pillow is no different!
Each pillow is presented in a Koala blue box with a handle for easy moving. Once you open the box, a sensor that is triggered by light inside plays a sweet lullaby to help drift you off to sleep. Inside the pillow is wrapped in a recyclable plastic cover.
Not only is it a cute box but it also doubles as a storage box!
How often should you change your pillow?
According to Michael Breus Ph.D the author of Good Night, “if you have a plain-old, inexpensive polyester pillow, you should be replacing it every six months. But if you have a memory foam pillow or any one with structural integrity, it’ll last you anywhere from 18 to 36 months.”
Luckily, the Koala Pillow comes with 2 years full warranty so just in time for when you need to replace a pillow! If you’d like to purchase a Koala Pillow, just click here.
