How Being Single Affects Your Sleep

Let’s be honest, we all want to be experiencing a good night’s sleep! Sleep is one of the core foundations of great health and when we are enjoying lots of sleep, we are often enjoying a healthy libido and enthusiasm for life in general.

So, how does being single specifically affect our sleep? Do single people enjoy better sleep, or worse? Well to answer this question, it’s best to look at the benefits of being single from a more holistic point of view.

Single people are more healthy

In the year 2000, a study found that single people are more active and spend more time exercising, as opposed to people in relationship. Fact is, when we dedicate time to exercise, we increase the energy that we burn in our body, and as a result, we feel more inspired to eat healthy. We also tend to up the chances of feeling good about ourselves – both physically, emotionally and spiritually. The combination of a healthy exercise regime, healthy diet and healthy mind naturally leads to a deeper and longer sleep!

Sleep on your own schedule

Another benefit of single life is that we don’t have to take our partner’s schedule into consideration at bedtime, and we have the freedom to enjoy sleep whenever we want. We can choose to go to bed at a healthy hour and we can wake up and get out of bed when we desire … having this freedom to schedule in sleep when it suits us allows us to easily incorporate a good sleep routine into our daily lives.


No blanket bandit

And then there’s the obvious benefit of sleeping alone – the fact we’re not contending with another person next to us in bed. Yes, cuddles are so much fun and very enjoyable, however sleeping alone there is less likelihood of having the duvet kicked off in the middle of the night, or the blanket stolen in winter! Plus we don’t have to put up with a possible snorer next to us! Sleeping alone definitely guarantees comfort and no interruption throughout the night.

So the verdict is, being single can definitely have a positive impact on our sleep routine and our life in general. Because remember, when we sleep well, we wake up feeling fresh and ready to face our day with vitality and enthusiasm! And when we feel vitality and enthusiasm, life flows easier and we experience more joy and pleasure on a daily basis.
