At Koala we recognise that we have a duty of care to the planet, both as individuals and as a company. We strive not only on setting new trends in the furniture industry, but also on setting a good example by doing our bit for the environment.
We are dedicated to implementing environmentally friendly initiatives at each stage of production and the product experience, starting with our Koala treehouse where our staff hang out, right through to your bedrooms and living rooms.
Each Koala customer with a mattress or sofa will already have their cute and fluffy reminder of how they’ve helped us to contribute to the conservation of koalas and turtles through our partnership with WWF. Beyond this, our tencel and eucalyptus blend sheets have been given the Canopy Planet verification as sustainably sourced and as a certified B-Corp company, we are dedicated to upholding a high level of standards to care for people and planet.
In addition to this, all old and returned mattresses are either broken down into reusable components through Soft Landing’s mattress recycling program, or donated to our partners, Mission Australia and Helping Hands.
Focusing largely on this year’s World Environment Day theme, we continue to actively seek out ways in which we can reduce our use of plastic, having already reduced our plastic packaging in the mattress box by 60% earlier this year. As part of the 1% for the Planet initiative, we are committed to donating 1% of our revenue to environmental issues and adopting new practices within our office that reduce our plastic consumption and promote a greener and healthier lifestyle for our staff. We do this by supporting sustainable businesses and suppliers, using biodegradable and reusable products, and promoting green indoor spaces.
In theme with this World Environment Day, join us in our commitment to #beatplasticpollution and feel free to share how you are choosing to reduce your use of plastic by tagging @koala on our socials.
